Art Creates Change

Global ARTivism is an open-access public-humanities project founded by Nicole Bonino at the University of Virginia to explore how artists use creative practice to engage with social change and the histories and experiences that shape contemporary communities. At its center is a growing digital repository where artistic work is placed in conversation with research, teaching, artist voices, and the encounters generated through exhibitions and public programming. Conceived as a collaborative space, Global ARTivism invites artists, students, educators, and community partners to participate in the production of knowledge rather than simply encounter its finished forms.
